Residential Rate of Last Resort

In Alberta, you have choice. You can choose between a competitive electricity plan or the Rate of Last Resort (RoLR), the default electricity rate in Alberta. If you don't sign up for a plan, or can't, you will be on the Rate of Last Resort.

It is a fixed rate for a two year period from January 1, 2025 – December 31, 2026.
There is no contract and you can switch to a competitive plan at anytime.

In Edmonton, EPCOR is your Rate of Last Resort provider. If you are not on a plan with a retailer, you are automatically on the RoLR for electricity.
