Current Transformer Replacement - completed
Privacy Fence Replacement - completed
Grounding Upgrades
Breaker Replacement
The February 2023 project notice update can be found here.
EPCOR will be upgrading the electrical grounding at the Petrolia Substation. This work will continue to ensure safe conditions within the substation and protect electrical equipment. To complete these upgrades, new grounding connections will be installed along the substation fence. Work is expected to take place in late September for approximately one week.
The Breaker Replacement project has been delayed until Spring 2024. Additional information will be provided closer to the project start time.
The typical hours of construction will be 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday to Friday. These timelines are an estimate and may change based on weather and construction condition.
All work areas will take place within the substation walls.
These projects may be noisy at times. We will comply with the City of Edmonton’s Community Standards Bylaw for Noise Control. If it is necessary to temporarily exceed acceptable noise levels, we will work with the City of Edmonton to obtain the necessary permits.
These projects will require a variety of vehicles and equipment within the Petrolia Substation, including cranes, hydrovac trucks, mini trenchers, delivery and hauling trucks and EPCOR vehicles.
Power outages are not required to complete these projects.
All work areas will be maintained in a safe and secure manner. All construction activities will be performed in accordance with the City of Edmonton’s bylaws, Occupational Health and Safety requirements and EPCOR’s strict health, safety and environmental procedures and guidelines.
