Electricity safety in your neighbourhood

Be smart about electrical equipment

You will find electrical infrastructure all around your neighbourhood. Electrical boxes, power line and poles, and worksites can be dangerous.

In an emergency

If a power line is down or there is contact with a power line:

  • Call 911.
  • Call EPCOR’s 24/7 emergency line at 705-445-1800
  • Do not move the line or any object in contact with it.
  • Stay at least 10 metres away from the area.

Electrical infrastructure

Teach children to never touch or go near power lines or green electrical boxes. If a toy or other object ends up inside a transformer station or other restricted area, call EPCOR.

Downed power lines

Assume a downed power line is live and dangerous. Stay 10 metres away from it.

  • Call 911.
  • Call EPCOR’s 24/7 emergency line at 705-445-1800.
  • Do not move the power line or any object in contact with it.

Stay safe around EPCOR worksites

EPCOR crews may be working in your neighbourhood. Their work can be dangerous, and they need to focus on their job. Please don’t enter the worksites or distract them. Everyone wants to get home safely.
