Electric vehicle charging rate

If you own or operate a commercial electric vehicle (EV) charging station, you may qualify for EPCOR’s new Electric Vehicle Charging (EVC) Rate. This rate is designed to make public charging more affordable and help expand EV infrastructure across Ontario.

The EVC Rate is an electricity delivery rate that reduces Retail Transmission Service Rates (RTSRs) for eligible EV charging stations. By better aligning costs with usage, this rate supports stations with low load factors and helps make charging more accessible.

To qualify, your EV charging station must:

• Include at least one Direct Current Fast Charger (DCFC)
• Attribute 90% or more of monthly peak demand to EV charging
• Have a monthly peak demand between 50 kW and 4,999 kW
• Maintain a 12-month average load factor of 20% or less
• Not primarily serve commercial or public sector EV fleets
• Ensure any distributed energy resource behind the meter does not exceed the station’s annual peak demand

Participating stations pay 17% of the standard RTSR for customers in the General Service 50 kW to 4,999 kW class. For example, if the RTSR is $100/kW, you would pay $17/kW under the EVC Rate.
