Fixed natural gas rates in Alberta are a stable natural gas price option that provides predictability throughout the term of your energy plan. While the market fluctuates, your price remains constant. Because your consumption varies from month to month, your energy charge will too. However, your unit price won't. Natural gas fixed prices for fixed rate energy plans are based on a competitive per gigajoule (GJ) rate.
Fixed rate vs variable rate gas plans are ideal if you want to minimize changes/fluctuations in your energy charges from month to month. But because future prices and consumption are unknown, extra risk margin is built into fixed rates to cover retailer costs.
A floating gas rate in Alberta is based on market prices, so the rate for a month is determined after the month has passed. So while the billing will come in a bit later, all the same benefits of Encor apply. With our floating plans, you always pay the market rate.
