1. Adjust your heating throughout the day
When you're home, keep the thermostat at 20°C. Lower it by around 6 degrees when you're gone and at night. These small changes will save you up to 15% per year on your heating bill!
2. Use smart bulbs
Beyond turning off the lights when you leave a room, switch out all your standard incandescent bulbs with smart
Energy Star certified ones to use 75% less electricity.
3. Insulate your windows
Keep cold air from getting in and making your heating work harder by purchasing a
draft stopper.
4. Wash your clothes in cold water and hang them to dry
Use cold water instead of warm or hot when you’re doing laundry to keep your washer from expending heat. Then, purchase a drying rack to air-dry your clothes indoors (in the winter) or outside (in the summer) to avoid using your dryer.
5. Use a power strip and turn devices on and off
Instead of running around unplugging your TV, computers and gaming consoles when you're not using them, use a power strip with an on/off switch. Even better, use a smart power strip that automatically turns off everything that's plugged into it when they're not in use.
