Temporary water discolouration in Harmony

PublishedJune 25, 2025

Some Harmony residents may notice discoloured water following recent heavy rainfall and increased runoff into the Bow River. Due to high turbidity in the river, EPCOR temporarily switched to Harmony Lake as a water source. This lake contains higher levels of manganese, which can affect the water’s appearance.

Your water is safe

While the water may look different, it remains safe to drink and use. It continues to meet or exceed all health and safety standards set by Alberta Environment and Protected Areas (AEPA) and Alberta Health.

What you need to know

  • The discolouration is aesthetic only and does not affect water quality.
  • EPCOR is actively monitoring the situation and conducting regular testing.
  • We are working closely with AEPA to ensure full regulatory compliance.

What you can do

Run your cold water tap for a few minutes to help flush your plumbing. If the issue persists, contact our customer care team at harmony@epcor.com or 403-879-8934 (1-855-942-9726).

We appreciate your patience as river conditions stabilize. EPCOR is committed to providing safe, reliable drinking water and keeping you informed every step of the way.
