Natural gas safety in Ontario

PublishedNovember 03, 2022

Following a regular, routine inspection of our Ontario natural gas system, EPCOR has become aware of an issue with some of the gas lines in certain areas. There is no immediate risk to health or safety but we need to address this issue to ensure long-term system reliability.

Timelines

We are taking steps to investigate and fix this issue as soon as possible. We will update you on our timelines and provide more information as it becomes available.

Your natural gas service

Our immediate priority is maintaining or restoring safe, reliable service. Unfortunately, fixing the issue will potentially be disruptive. We will do everything we can to minimize disruption. Should service be interrupted we will prioritize customers who have no other source of heat for winter.

If you smell gas or rotten eggs

If you smell rotten eggs, which is used to identify gas, or any other odours, please call our emergency line at 1-888-765-2256.

If you see worksite or work activity in your area, please maintain a safe distance.

We appreciate the patience of everyone affected as we work safely to deliver reliable natural gas service as soon as possible.
