Natural gas expansion to communities in the municipalities of Kincardine, Arran Elderslie and West Grey

In June 2021, the Ontario Government announced additional funding for its Natural Gas Expansion Program.
PublishedJune 09, 2021

As part of Phase 2 of the Program, EPCOR has received funding to expand our Southern Bruce natural gas distribution system to more communities in the Municipalities of Kincardine and Arran Elderslie and West Grey.

Before construction can commence, significant activities will need to take place, including staging, procurement and regulatory approvals. EPCOR is required to file a Leave to Construct application with the Ontario Energy Board for its approval, which provides updated timelines for completion of the Environmental Assessment, the system design, stakeholder and First Nation consultation plans and required permitting.

We anticipate construction beginning in 2023.

EPCOR'S Susannah Robinson, Vice President, Ontario welcomed the announcement. "This is great news for businesses, farms and families in rural Ontario who will now have access to safe, reliable and affordable natural gas. Today's announcement opens the door to an exciting new chapter for these communities, and EPCOR looks forward to serving them for years to come," she said.

EPCOR has been working since 2015 to bring natural gas service to rural Ontario. In 2020, we connected customers as part of our Southern Bruce project and continue to connect customers in the Municipalities of Kincardine and Arran Elderslie and the Township of Huron-Kinloss.
