In a year when local organizations experienced financial hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic, EPCOR lent a helping hand by contributing $10,000 through its Heart + Soul Fund.
The funding aimed to support organizations that were forced to shift gears or adapt their fundraising efforts, allowing them to continue delivering vital services to residents in Canmore and area.
"Many organizations in our community have been hit hard by the pandemic, including those whose purpose is to help others," said Christian Madsen, EPCOR Director, Regional Water Operations. "We're proud to support charitable organizations that are important to our communities and to our employees."
The Bow Valley Christmas Spirit Campaign is currently underway to help those in need. Funding provided by EPCOR will be used to help supply those who have applied for a hamper with grocery cards and toys.
"In a year where so many people are struggling, we thank EPCOR for their donation that will allow us to help more individuals and families, and brighten their holiday season," said Hannah de Soto, Campaign Board Member.
EPCOR also contributed to the Mindfulness and Meditation Program offered by the Canmore and Area Health Care Foundation to help anyone in the community manage their everyday stressors and improve their overall health.
"The Mindfulness and Meditation Program is, by far, one of the most popular foundation-funded programs offered at the Canmore General Hospital. The program (currently offered online) is open to anyone in the community, including our healthcare heroes. We're extremely thankful for EPCOR's support towards this very important and impactful program. Every dollar raised in support of healthcare during these challenging and uncertain times means so much to us and our community," said Soulafa Al-Abbasi, Foundation's Executive Director.
EPCOR's focus during the COVID-19 pandemic has been on continuing to deliver essential services our communities count on, supporting customers whose incomes have been disrupted, and protecting the health and safety of our employees, contractors and customers.
