As Senior Vice President, North American Commercial Services, Joe Gysel is responsible for commercial operations and projects across North America, including services for municipal and industrial water, wastewater, electricity and natural gas. His scope also includes managing EPCOR’s energy portfolio for regulated customers in Rate of Last Resort and EPCOR’s competitive retail energy business, Encor by EPCOR.
Prior to this assignment, Joe was responsible for EPCOR’s U.S. operations and held roles as Senior Vice President, New Business Enterprises with EUI, responsible for EUI water business development across Canada and the U.S. Previous positions with EUI also included senior responsibilities in energy origination and plant development.
Joe has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of British Columbia with a double major in Marketing and Urban Land Economics. In 2008, he completed the Harvard Advanced Management Program.
Joe is currently a member of Greater Phoenix Leadership and the Canada Arizona Business Council. He previously served as President of the Board for the National Association of Water Companies, which represents U.S. private water utilities that collectively serve more than 73 million people. Joe also serves on the Advisory Board of Arizona State University's Kyl Centre for Water Policy at the Morrison Institute, as a member of the external advisory committee of the Water Resources Research Council at the University of Arizona, and on the University of Arizona's Water, Environmental and Energy Solutions External Advisory Board.
Joe is an Honourary Commander with Fighter Country Partnership, which supports Luke Air Force Base in the Phoenix-metro area, sits on the Heard Museum Board of Directors, and is a member of the Canadian Athletic Foundation Board of Trustees for the BLG Awards, which recognise excellence in Canadian university athletes.
