Valerie Berger

Ms. Valerie Berger, CPA, CMA, was appointed to EPCOR’s Board of Directors in 2025.

Ms. Berger is the Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Alberta Blue Cross®, the largest health benefits provider in Alberta, serving more than 1.8 million customers.

Prior to joining Alberta Blue Cross in 2020, Ms. Berger held several senior leadership roles with ATCO Ltd. and ATCO Gas. She was responsible for guiding financial teams, holding regulatory portfolio responsibilities, and leading internal audit functions including risk management. Earlier in her career, she spent over a decade with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in Assurance and Advisory Services.

Ms. Berger currently serves as a public member of the Finance and Audit Committee of the Edmonton Catholic School Board. She is a former member of the Board of Governors of NAIT, where she also served as Chair of the Audit and Finance Committees and as Interim Chair of the Board, among other roles. She also previously served on the Board of Trustees of the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation, including as Chair of the Audit and Investment Committee.

Ms. Berger holds an Accounting Diploma (honours) from NAIT and is a Chartered Professional Accountant, and Certified Management Accountant. She is also a graduate of the Richard Ivey Executive Program and the Institute of Corporate Directors’ Governance Essentials Program for Directors of Not-for-Profit Organizations.
