As part of our work to green the company's electricity supply, we've signed an agreement with Renewable Energy Systems Canada to develop and construct a new wind farm in southern Alberta. We'll acquire the Renewable Electricity Certificates from the project for a 20-year term.
Permitting activities are underway and the wind farm is expected to be constructed in the summer of 2022, with commercial operations commencing before 2023.
Together, the wind power project and the E.L. Smith Solar Farm will deliver about 95,000 tonnes of net emissions reductions — equal to more than 50% of EPCOR's current net greenhouse gas emissions company-wide.
