The community-driven Light the Bridge project is currently in its testing phase, ensuring every light shines bright.
Dave and his crews are taking these final few weeks to make last-minute tweaks to the installation and software program used to animate around 60,000 LED fixtures. Their goal? To create a beautiful "wash" effect with soft, glowing colours.
With a wash effect, onlookers won't see the actual light fixtures themselves — just reflections of light off the surface of the bridge. EPCOR Technologies opted for this design not only to manage costs, but also to mitigate issues such as light pollution and glare.
"A wash effect is really dramatic from close up," said Dave. "It's more elegant, as well."
So far, the project is right on schedule for the next and final step: the debut light-up planned for July 1 (Canada Day). Until then, be sure to scope out a spot for that night, so you can see the project truly come to light!
