"When the river level is rising fast during a storm, the water quality changes significantly," says Abhishek. Despite this, he and his team of water professionals draw on a well of experience and data to ensure that our water quality is consistent no matter what the season or circumstance.

With hot temperatures in the summer, the water that journeys from melting snow pack in the mountains and torrential rain during storms, cause the North Saskatchewan to rise and stir sediment. The dirt and debris washed into the river with every newer storm makes the water more challenging to treat, keeping Abhishek and his team on their toes.

So how do they keep the water so clean and clear? At our water treatment plants, water goes through a series of filtrations, chemical treatments, inspections and other tests to ensure what comes out of the tap is colorless, odourless and great-tasting. This process calls for round-the-clock monitoring, especially during and after a big storm.
