Southern Bruce Project update: OEB Notice of Hearing

October 01, 2018
Published In: Corporate Information
The Ontario Energy Board (OEB) has issued a Notice of Hearing to consider EPCOR Southern Bruce Gas Inc.'s application to transfer its authority to distribute natural gas in Arran-Elderslie, Kincardine and Huron-Kinloss to EPCOR Natural Gas Limited Partnership. EPCOR has been working since 2015 to bring natural gas service to the area. In 2016, the Municipality of Kincardine, Township of Huron-Kinloss and the Municipality of Arran-Elderslie selected EPCOR as the preferred provider through a competitive process. In April 2018, OEB ruling awarded EPCOR the project and issued the certificates of public convenience and necessity. These certificates grant the authority to construct and operate a natural gas distribution system. EPCOR's application to transfer the certificates to EPCOR Natural Gas Limited Partnership is intended to consolidate certain of its natural gas operations in Ontario under a single entity. EPCOR has applied to the OEB for Leave to Construct. Public information sessions will begin soon and will continue over the construction period.  EPCOR expects construction to commence in spring 2019 with first customers connecting late in the year, and all customers within the service area having access to natural gas by 2021.
