Edmonton, Alberta – EPCOR Utilities Inc. (EPCOR) is pleased to announce the appointment of Margaret Bateman to its Board of Directors.
"Ms. Bateman has been a highly regarded strategist, facilitator and respected voice in public affairs for more than 40 years in Alberta. She brings to our Board a deep understanding of complex policy issues and experience in working with governments at all levels, combined with the business acumen of a former CEO and business owner," said Janice G. Rennie, EPCOR Board Chair.
"In addition, Ms. Bateman is a leader and community builder, who has contributed significantly to initiatives focused on the economic and social sustainability of our city and province. She is a welcome addition to our Board."
Ms. Bateman currently serves on the Boards of Alberta Blue Cross Corporation and the 2001 Legacy Foundation Board in Edmonton. She is past Board Chair of Edmonton Airports and was a member of the Board of Governors of Augustana University, which is today part of the University of Alberta.
Ms. Bateman is past CEO and senior partner of Calder Bateman Communications – a firm she co-founded in 1990, and merged with ZGM Modern Marketing Partners in 2018. Through her career, she has provided strategic counsel and planning expertise to numerous public and private sector clients, engaging in a range of public policy issues. She has also led complex multi-stakeholder engagements on behalf of governments.
Ms. Bateman previously served as Managing Director of the Alberta Public Affairs Bureau for the Government of Alberta. She was also Vice President of the Alberta Housing Corporation.
