Advancing Edmonton

 

We aim to support initiatives that impact Edmonton today and make it better for tomorrow. We look for initiatives that either enhance quality of life and enjoyment for the community, put our city on the international stage or make this a more welcoming and attractive community for potential employees and investors.

 

​Where we focus our support

​Initiatives must fall within one of these categories.

 Fun city events

Events, festivals and programs that enhance quality of life for Edmontonians and have strong alignment to showcase our core business: power, water, drainage.

 Innovation and sustainability

Initiatives that showcase technology and sustainability while placing Edmonton on the international stage.

What we look for​

The initiatives must be delivered within the City of Edmonton. Strong proposals will include multiple elements below:

  • Long-lasting and meaningful impact
  • Profile for our brand and leadership team
  • Allowing EPCOR to play a founding role where possible
  • Initiatives that drive economic diversity
  • Initiatives that enhance diversity and inclusion
  • Programs that offer opportunities for our employees to get involved or volunteer
  • Initiatives that connect Edmontonians to our river valley
  • A connection to our lines of business: power, water, and drainage 
  • Initiatives that bring together business, government and influencers

​Ineligible requests

The following organizations and/or activities are considered ineligible for support.

Organizations Activities
  • Advocacy or lobbying organizations
  • Fraternal organizations or commercial third-party fundraising organizations
  • Community / Family Foundations, Trusts or Funds
  • Capital campaigns to build infrastructure or cover general operating costs
  • Utility rebates
  • Advertising or promotional initiatives
  • Individual / team applicants or individual / team pursuits
  • Contingency or deficit funds
  • Sports programs or tournaments
  • Illness-related causes
  • Political or religious causes
  • Endowments or matching grants

  • Programs delivered outside EPCOR's operating communities

  • Retroactive funding for program expenses incurred prior to EPCOR's funding decision

Application timelines

  • Please submit your request at least 8 weeks before support is needed. Due to the volume of requests we receive, we're unable to respond to short notice requests.

  • We'll review your application and contact you if we need more information. 
  • Unfortunately, we're unable to respond to telephone or email inquiries regarding the status of your request.

 

We have a new online application system

  • User accounts haven't been carried over from our old system so you'll have to create a new user account.
  • Your new user account will keep a record of all applications you submit going forward, and you'll be able to use the "copy" feature to auto-populate future applications and edit as needed.
  • Our online system accepts requests for Canadian initiatives only.

  • US inquiries can be sent to: uscommunityinvestment@epcor.com.

All requests for support must be received through our online application system. We're unable to consider telephone, hard copy or email requests.
