EPCOR is making an impact in Texas and has received three prestigious local awards as a result. These honors highlight EPCOR’s deep commitment to the communities that it serves and the outstanding dedication of local employees. EPCOR took top honors at the Austin Chamber of Commerce’s Austin Gives Award for Employee Engagement of the Year, and recognized as Volunteer of the Year. In addition, EPCOR was separately recognized as the Community Partner of the Year by the Boys & Girls Club of East Williamson County.
Since starting operations in Texas in 2016, EPCOR has donated or through individual contributions, given more than $90,000 to Central Texas communities and organizations, focusing on youth, education, families in need and the environment. EPCOR employees have been committed to these causes, with more than 500 volunteer hours across 121 employees.
The Austin Chamber of Commerce recognized these efforts with its Austin Gives Award for Employee Engagement of the Year. This award celebrates businesses that actively foster a culture of community service. EPCOR earned this honor through multiple initiatives like the annual "Turkey Bowl," which grew from a small turkey donation into a fundraiser that provided full Thanksgiving meals for more than 75 families. The nomination also highlighted fundraising $34,000 for the WilCo Children’s Advocacy Center and mentoring the next generation of professionals through the local Pflugerville Skilled Trades Academy.
In addition to team-wide recognition, the Chamber also named Matt Atwood, Senior Communications Advisor, its Volunteer of the Year. This award honors an individual who leads by example and inspires others. Matt spearheaded beautification projects that revitalized local parks in Taylor, and Lexington, Texas. He also helped to expand the employee United Way cornhole tournament for EPCOR’s annual campaign, that over the years has contributed to more than $500,000 across Arizona, New Mexico and Texas. A tradition that began in 2012, has grown into an innovative idea that has spread company-wide and boosted participation in the fundraiser.
And on September 26, EPCOR was awarded Community Partner of the Year by the Boys & Girls Club of East Williamson County. From sponsoring events and providing resources for Taylor youth, EPCOR’s team has embraced this nonprofit as one of their favorite ways to give back to this Central Texas Community.
