For instance, many of our employees work outside the office building, repairing and operating water and wastewater facilities. Heavy-duty machinery is involved, that's why we are proud to have instilled a safety-first culture. Our safety record is world class, leading to employees taking greater pride in their work, their workplaces and their fellow employees. EPCOR USA, for instance, took stewardship of Johnson Utilities to give Pinal County residents the ability to turn on their taps or flush their toilets without worry. We built a new wastewater treatment plant in the West Valley, opening up 4,400 acres to new homes and businesses. The plant will put treated water back into the ground to support the state's water resource management efforts. A long-term agreement with the Maricopa Water District is shifting water use from agriculture to residential and commercial, requiring less water to be drawn from non-renewable aquifers.
