EPCOR Wins Best Place to Work Award

December 18, 2018
aAt EPCOR USA, we strive to make the company an attractive place to work. So when employees tell the Phoenix Business Journal they really like it here, we smile with pride. For the fourth time, EPCOR USA was selected as one of the Best Places to Work in the Valley. The recognition is based in large part on comments and feedback from employees. "The most gratifying part of this recognition is that it's employee-driven. Through an extensive employee engagement survey, they are the ones who said that EPCOR is an amazing place to work," commented Joe Gysel, president of EPCOR USA. "We truly believe that we are only as good as our employees."EPCOR USA creates a superior workplace by emphasizing safety, innovation, being a good neighbor, along with supporting employees and their families. We give back to the communities we serve because our employees live there. For instance, many of our employees work outside the office building, repairing and operating water and wastewater facilities. Heavy-duty machinery is involved, that's why we are proud to have instilled a safety-first culture. Our safety record is world class, leading to employees taking greater pride in their work, their workplaces and their fellow employees. EPCOR USA and its employees support good work in the community through donations and through action. Employees stock the shelves of local food pantries. We build playgrounds, donate water, support community gardens and more. Each year since we've been in the Valley, our employees have given more to the Valley of the Sun United Way. With the company's support, they give back to the communities in which they live. Employees also take pride in the way they and their company innovatively support sustainable economic development. EPCOR USA, for instance, took stewardship of Johnson Utilities to give Pinal County residents the ability to turn on their taps or flush their toilets without worry. We built a new wastewater treatment plant in the West Valley, opening up 4,400 acres to new homes and businesses. The plant will put treated water back into the ground to support the state's water resource management efforts. A long-term agreement with the Maricopa Water District is shifting water use from agriculture to residential and commercial, requiring less water to be drawn from non-renewable aquifers. "We couldn't have done any of this without talented, hard-working employees," Gysel said. "We attract and retain such employees by making EPCOR USA a great place to work. We thank the Phoenix Business Journal for allowing our employees to recognize that." For more information:
