EPCOR to begin water main replacement along Riviera Drive

October 07, 2019

As part of EPCOR's investment in safe, high-quality infrastructure, the company will replace approximately one-half mile of water main under Riviera Drive between 99th and 103rd avenues, and a section of water main on 99th Avenue between Riviera Drive and Alabama Avenue in Sun City. Work will begin on the estimated $650,000 project in late October 2019 and is expected to be completed early 2020.

Replacing the half-mile section of water main is a long-term investment in improved infrastructure that benefits customers, ultimately saving water, time and money.

"Assessing the condition of our underground infrastructure is a routine part of EPCOR's work in the community," said Rick Alvarez, Engineering Project Manager at EPCOR. "Broken or leaking water mains are a major cause of lost water, and in the past 10 years, problems along Riviera Drive have resulted in costly, disruptive and time-consuming emergency repairs."

Once the new main is installed, EPCOR will need to turn off water service briefly for affected customers along Riviera Drive while the utility connects customers to the new line. EPCOR team members or an EPCOR contractor will notify affected customers of this brief disruption the day before it occurs, and it is expected to last no more than an hour.

EPCOR wishes to express thanks to all customers for their patience as the company completes this infrastructure improvement project to ensure high-quality, reliable water service for this neighborhood.
