EPCOR Steps up to Help Solve a Looming Water Crisis for our Neighbors

That's why EPCOR felt it was so important to step up to help solve a looming water crisis for the residents of New River and Desert Hills – two communities adjacent to our water district in Anthem.

Late last year, about 1,500 residential properties in these rural areas learned their longtime practice of hauling water from nearby hydrants was coming to an end, and they would soon be disconnected from the City of Phoenix water supply.

Many area residents, community leaders and elected officials approached us to help. As Anthem's water services provider, we were in a unique position to move swiftly and work collaboratively with Maricopa County, the Anthem Community Council, the Arizona Corporation Commission and the Army Corps of Engineers to solve this problem.

Thanks to this collaborative effort, we are building the Desert Hills New River Water Station and expect water to be flowing to the 1-acre site by the end of July 2018. This means water haulers will be able to access the station and deliver the water to homes in Desert Hills and New River, ensuring thousands of residents who were uncertain about their water future will have access to clean, reliable and affordable water.
