PHOENIX—April 15, 2021— In recognition of Water Awareness Month, EPCOR invites customers and the public to explore water conservation resources the company has available to support sustainable water use across its service areas in Arizona and New Mexico.

Water Resources Analyst Rick Obenshain heads up EPCOR's ongoing community conservation and outreach program in the company's Phoenix corporate office. Under Obenshain's direction, EPCOR partners with the nonprofit Watershed Management Group to present rainwater harvesting classes in several Arizona communities and shares a Desert Landscaping 101 session with local organizations. The company maintains two educational xeriscape demonstration gardens in the greater Phoenix area – these are open to the public to help people choose low-water plants for desert landscaping.

Students at schools in EPCOR's service areas also benefit from fun, interactive learning activities that teach the value of water – including a popular "H20 Magic Show" program.

In addition to these public offerings, the company offers free conservation resources to customers. These include appliance retrofit kits and a specially trained team of Conservation Specialists to help customers learn to save water at home and reduce their monthly water bills.

EPCOR's Clovis, New Mexico customers have access to specialized rebate programs to encourage water conservation. These programs have been so effective in EPCOR's New Mexico market that water usage in Clovis has leveled off in the last ten years even as the city's population has grown.

Obenshain said, "Working for one of the largest private water utilities in the Southwest, my colleagues and I are committed to sharing our resources and programs to help people conserve water. Our tools and programs really make a difference, and I'm proud of the work we're doing to help our communities ensure a sustainable water future."
