EPCOR Employee Brings Passion for Robotics and Community Together

April 10, 2023

April 8-16 is National Robotics Week – the perfect time to highlight how a member of Team EPCOR is bringing his passion for robotics, mentorship and community together to make a difference.

Director, SCADA and Control Group, for EPCOR’s U.S. operations, Andrew Milakovich is basically a robot expert. As a student, he was a part of the FIRST Robotics program and his experience became instrumental in his life, both personally and professionally. He knows firsthand how impactful robotics programs, teams and a little competition can be and so he began volunteering as a mentor to teams and a referee and robot inspector at robotic competitions.

For the past eight years, Andrew has mentored RoboKrew 2662, a FIRST Robotics Competition Team made up of students from Tolleson Union High School and University High School out of Tolleson, Arizona. RoboKrew is a group that inspires youth to pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Business and provides a welcoming community to get involved and gain experience. Watch this video to see just how amazing these competitions are.

Supported by EPCOR’s Helping Hands grant program for employees, Andrew has helped to cover the costs of construction materials, tools and robot parts for the team. Andrew’s dedication to this remarkably fun group is just one example of how Team EPCOR is delivering more than clean, reliable water and energy.
