Natural gas is an economical and environmentally friendly choice for heating your home and appliances. When it comes to switching to natural gas, most residential homes and businesses in the EPCOR area can have a line installed, as long as there is a gas main running in front of the property.
To help you work through this process, we recommend working with a certified contractor. Your contractor will be able to provide the proper information to help the application and installation of natural gas to your home run smoothly.
Please note: due to the volume of gas service requests, the gas service installation is approximately 4-6 weeks from when the application is submitted.
Did you know?
Natural gas is a safe and economical choice for heating your home and powering your major appliances. It's been a part of our area since 1911.
Natural gas is the most economical fuel choice for heating your home. When you shop for natural gas appliances, you can compare EnerGuide labels and look for ENERGY STAR-qualified models for the highest energy efficiency. For example, there are natural gas furnace units that can achieve over 95% efficiency, saving you a bundle in heating costs.
With growing concerns about greenhouse gases and global warming, consumers are turning to natural gas for their homes and businesses. Natural gas is the cleanest burning fossil fuel. When burned, it releases less carbon monoxide than coal and oil, for cleaner air both inside and outside of your home.
Natural gas can be used for more than just home heating. A licensed natural gas service professional can easily add connections for indoor natural gas appliances such as a dryer, fireplace, water heater, or range. Outdoor appliances such as a barbecue or pool heater can also be converted to natural gas. All of these can be done with little inconvenience or disturbance to your home. Natural gas can provide an instant and efficient source of energy for most of your household needs.

More and more businesses are turning to natural gas as an attractive transportation option that reduces fleet costs, lowers emissions and helps them win contracts. Natural gas costs much less than gasoline and is the only fuel that has actually dropped in price over the past decade. Increasing the use of natural gas to replace more carbon-intensive fuels can help address environmental concerns like climate change, urban smog and water quality.
Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) is the most common natural gas transportation solution because it is more readily available. CNG is fuelling a broad range of vehicles in heavy-duty, medium and light-vehicle applications and is ideal for vehicles that return-to-base at the end of a workday.
Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) is cooled to -160º C so it can be stored as a liquid. In liquid form natural gas achieves double the energy density of CNG making it better suited for greater fuel consumption applications such as marine, rail, and long haul trucking. With the price of natural gas being so attractive, a number of new Ontario LNG infrastructure projects are currently being planned that will expand its commercial availability.
As the appetite for low-cost, low-emission alternatives to diesel and gasoline continues to grow, so do the advantages of switching to a fuel that reduces costs, burns cleaner and helps customers win and retain contracts.
