Understanding your gas bill: Important updates effective July 1, 2025

We’re committed to keeping you informed about changes to your natural gas bill so you can plan ahead with confidence. 

Gas prices​

  • Starting July 1, 2025, the price for the gas commodity and transportation portion of your bill will decrease by $0.011313 per cubic meter, bringing the new rate to $0.180770 per cubic meter.
  • This change has been approved by the Ontario Energy Board and reflects the prices EPCOR expects to pay its gas suppliers through June 2026.
  • On your bill, this cost appears under the line item “Gas Commodity.”

As a regulated utility, EPCOR is allowed to recover the actual cost of purchasing gas and related transportation expenses—without any mark-up or profit. These rates are based on forecasted costs and are reviewed regularly by the Ontario Energy Board to ensure they align with actual market conditions.

*Note: Transportation costs refer to the cost of getting gas into the system. Delivery costs refer to the cost of getting gas to your property.

How will this impact you?

  • The impact on your bill depends on your gas usage.
  • For a typical residential customer using about 2,150 cubic meters of gas annually, these changes will reduce your heating costs by approximately $23 per year.
  • If you have a contract with a gas marketer or broker, your price may vary depending on the terms of your contract.
