What is happening

Water Disinfection Building

We're building a new water disinfection building that will allow us to move the water disinfection process closer to the water treatment plant. Construction on the building began in the spring of 2013, and is expected to be complete by the spring of 2015.

Water Laboratory

The existing water laboratory building is over 50 years old, and needs to be replaced. We are currently constructing a new lab building at the Rossdale site. The new facilities will house improved water testing technologies and allow us to continue providing you with clean and safe drinking water.
Construction began in the summer of 2013 and is expected to be finished in the summer of 2015.

Water Disinfection Upgrade

We are planning to upgrade the water disinfection system at the Rossdale water treatment plant. This environmental upgrade will include the construction of a new building on the south side of the water treatment plant, and is expected to be complete in the spring of 2015.

What to expect during construction

You can expect to see activity that is typical to construction, including company/ contractor vehicles and equipment accessing the site. All of the construction activity will take place within EPCOR’s property boundary.
Construction Noise
This type of work can be noisy and we will comply with the City of Edmonton’s Community Standards Bylaw for Noise Control. If it is necessary to temporarily exceed acceptable noise levels, we will work with the City of Edmonton to obtain the required permits.

We remain committed to maintaining the surrounding landscaping and park area for the community. The benches that were refinished over the winter are now back in place. We continually monitor the vegetation in the area, and prune or replace it as required.

All work areas will be maintained in a safe and secure manner. All construction activities will be performed in accordance with the City of Edmonton bylaws, Occupational Health and Safety requirements as well as EPCOR’s health, safety and environmental procedures and guidelines.
During construction, we ask that you please:

  • Obey all signs and flag persons
  • Watch for moving vehicles and equipment
  • Keep out of construction areas
