We'll be constructing 2 dry ponds, as well as performing sewer upgrades. This work is currently underway and is expected to be completed by the end of the 2020 construction season. Have a closer look at a more detailed project timeline.

Project overview

To reduce the risk of flooding during high-intensity, low-frequency rainfall events, we'll be constructing 2 dry ponds, as well as upgrading the sewer system in 2 locations in the area.

Dry pond timeline

Construction of the dry ponds started the week of May 25, 2020. The dry ponds are being constructed concurrently. The bulk of the excavation has been completed.

The installation of the underground infrastructure has been completed.

Landscaping is currently underway and is expected to be completed by the end of September 2020.

Fencing will remain around the dry pond/sports fields for approximately one year upon completion of the landscaping.

Sewer upgrade timeline

Further work is required on the sewer system outside the dry pond area for this project. For this work, there will be 2 work areas.

67 Avenue and west of 112 Street

The sewer upgrade work in the alley south of 67 Avenue and west of 112 Street began on June 1. The outstanding drainage work is the connection to the existing deep storm line on 67 Avenue. The manhole installation is expected to start on September 9 with completion by the end of September 2020 weather permitting.

An unexpected issue has arisen during construction relating to conflicts with the ATCO gas main in the alley, EPCOR Water on 67 Ave and the alley restoration which has delayed the completion of the work. All parties involved are working to resolve this to allow the alley to reopen as soon as possible.

EPCOR is currently exploring options to temporarily reopen the alley before the end of the 2020 construction season. Residents directly impacted will be provided an updated once we have more information.

Along 62 Avenue and 112A Street

The sewer upgrades along 62 Avenue and 112A Street began on June 22. Work is currently ongoing and is expected to be completed by the end of October 2020, weather permitting.
