We're focused on providing our customers with safe, reliable water now and long into the future. That means maintaining and investing in the system, from the wells and canals that bring the water to our treatment plants to the pipes that bring it to your homes.

In January 2014, we started work on an important project to serve Sun City.

Background

Why is it important?

There are 23 wells in Sun City, many of which date back to the very beginning of this master-planned community and some even before. Well 6.3, which is located near the Bell Road recreation center, was drilled on August 14, 1956, making it nearly 60 years old.

Although maintenance and repairs are completed throughout the life of a well, as wells age they become less efficient and produce less water. Well 6.3 is an important piece of the infrastructure system that provides water to our Sun City customers and after six decades, its condition had deteriorated to a point where it can no longer reliably produce the amount of water needed to satisfy the daily needs of Sun City homes and businesses. A replacement well was required.

Project details

What is happening?

We've finished drilling the replacement well, which is approximately 1,200 feet deep. Work is now starting on the last phase of the project – installing the electrical equipment and pump that run the well. We'll be working quickly and safely to finish this project from Monday through Friday during regular daytime construction hours.

Timeline

When will it be finished?

The replacement well is expected to be complete and doing its part to bring water to Sun City customers by December 2015.
