​Project overview

In January 2021, AltaLink received approval from the Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) to remove an AltaLink-owned telecommunications tower located within EPCOR's Lambton Substation (6015 – 50 Street) that has reached its end of life.

To maintain telecommunication needs, EPCOR plans to install a new 79-foot tall communication pole to replace AltaLink's existing 65-foot tall communication tower. The new communication pole will be wood and will be installed in the same location as the existing tower. Please see diagram of the new pole below.

We plan to apply to the AUC for approval of this project in spring 2021. If approved, construction will begin in summer of 2021 and will take approximately one week to complete. For updates to the project timeline, please continue to visit this project webpage.
