Project update October 2021

On August 17, 2021, EPCOR received approval from the AUC (Permit and Licence 26771-D01-2021) to add a new antenna on top of the existing substation building, located at the Garneau Substation (11123 – 85 Avenue). See October Project Update here.

Project Overview

The antenna will be 12 feet tall and will be placed on top of the existing substation building, which is 25 feet tall. This means the structure will be a total of 37 feet above ground. The new antenna structure will be grey in colour, made from metal and concrete materials. This antenna will communicate to a new EPCOR distribution pole that will replace an existing EPCOR distribution pole, located in the back alley.

Proposed Schedule

The new antenna is expected to be installed in early 2022, taking approximately one week to complete the work.

Typical hours of construction will be from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday. If required, these hours may be extended, and construction may occur on Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
