We are advising landowners, occupants and residents in your area about plans to add a new building within the existing Castle Downs substation. The substation is located at 16253 97 Street NW (see map), north of downtown Edmonton. See Project Overview​.​​

Project details

​The Castle Downs Substation is situated at 97 Street and 162 Avenue in the Eaux Claires neighbourhood. 

If approved, the project will involve:

  • ​A new 15 metre by 4.3 metre building within the Castle Downs substation;
  • Adding new switchgear
Schedule

​EPCOR intends to submit the required application for this project to the Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) in fall 2023. If approved, the tentative schedule of work would be as follows:

  • ​Construction on the new building is expected to begin in spring/summer 2024 and will take approximately 3 months
  • The project is estimated to be in-service by fall 2024

Please note: These timelines are estimates and may change based on weather, procurement of materials, and construction conditions.
