Many people do not know that homeowners are responsible for utility service line repairs on their property. This is not new, and is common with most municipal utilities.
These types of repairs aren't typically covered by a basic homeowner's insurance policy. However, we want you to know that you do have options for preparing yourself for unforeseen costs arising from these kinds of emergencies; whether you put money away, explore insurance options or do nothing at all.
EPCOR has an agreement with HomeServe that enables HomeServe to offer you an option for protecting yourself that wasn't previously available to Albertans. Our goal is to raise awareness about homeowner responsibilities and introduce this option for being prepared. And it is just that – one more option.
62 utility companies across North America have chosen HomeServe to be their official provider of emergency home repair services. HomeServe is an independent company that manages emergency home repair services and protection solutions more than 2,000,000 North American homeowners. Albertans will receive regular mailings from HomeServe. These are distributed by mass mail outs arranged by HomeServe, not through EPCOR customer mailing lists. HomeServe is neither an affiliate nor a subsidiary of EPCOR.
If you have questions about insurance from HomeServe, or wish not to receive future mailings on their products, please contact HomeServe at 1-855-441-1396 or visit their website.
Note: EPCOR and its affiliates are not offering this optional insurance nor will they be a party to any agreements entered into by customers with respect to this optional insurance. Furthermore, neither EPCOR nor its affiliates will have any obligations to the customers with this optional insurance. This insurance is managed by HomeServe and underwritten by Industrial Alliance Pacific General Insurance Corporation.
We appreciate you may have some questions about our partnership with HomeServe and what it means to you. We've prepared these Frequently Asked Questions to help. If you have a question that's not on here, please contact us at CustServ@epcor.com or send us a tweet @EPCOR.
