Tubac Purchased Power Adjustor Mechanism

November 09, 2016

Powering your water service

From moving water against the flow of gravity to operating complex treatment systems that ensure your water is high quality and safe to drink, it takes a lot of power to deliver your water.

In September 2015, the Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC) approved new rates for water service in your district. As part of that decision, the ACC also approved the Purchased Power Adjustor Mechanism, a surcharge that adjusts each year depending on the cost of purchasing power to run your water treatment and delivery system.

What is the Purchased Power Adjustor Mechanism?

The Purchased Power Adjustor Mechanism is adjusted once a year to reflect changes in the cost of power needed to deliver your service. The Purchased Power Adjustor Mechanism recovers or refunds the cost of purchasing electricity when the cost goes above or below the level approved by the ACC in September 2015. It will appear either as a credit or a charge on your monthly bill.

Tubac's new water rates were phased in over 3 years. In year 1, the average residential customer saw a monthly increase of $17.53, followed by roughly $8 in years 2 and 3 respectively.

Year 3 rates go into effect September 1, 2017, which is the final year of the phase in.
