Just ask Syed Gilani, one of our credit risk specialists. Last year,
he scored the nation's highest mark on the Uniform Final Evaluation for Chartered Accountants, and he did it with help from EPCOR's Management Development Program, which includes mentoring.
Commitment to mentoring employees was a factor that led to EPCOR's 2016 designation as one of
Canada's Top Employers for Young People under a MediaCorp program.
For the seventh year in a row, Mediacorp Canada named EPCOR among the top companies for people just starting out or early in their careers. The program recognizes businesses that do a good job of helping young people not only get started on a career path, but excel along the way.
We have also recently received the Alberta's Top Employers designation for 2016 — for the 11th year running.
In both competitions, organizations are judged based on their training, mentorship and advancement opportunities; benefits such as paid tuition; and overall company composition.
Among the reasons we were recognized include:
- Young people joining the organization can participate in orientation programs, site tours, mentoring. New leaders also attend management boot camp and leadership development programs, among many others.
- Our After Hours Personal Development Program provides funding for certificates, diplomas, degrees or other individual courses, to a maximum of $1,500 annually. We offer support for professional accreditations, a mentoring program and a wide range of in-house training.
- Employees can make an impact in their community through EPCOR's Helping Hands program. We organize regular small- to large-group volunteer opportunities, and also recognize individuals who volunteer more than 30 hours a year with a $300 grant directed to any registered Canadian charity of their choice.
