As stewards of Edmonton's water, drainage and electricity utilities, we take our role in delivering critical services and contributing to Edmontonians' overall quality of life seriously. We're also uniquely positioned to not only help protect the city we love, but to help make it better.

Working together for a flood-resilient future

In 2019, we delivered an ambitious strategy to mitigate significant risk of flooding as a result of climate change. The plan takes a groundbreaking approach to identifying the highest risk areas of Edmonton, considering utility industry data and analysis, and stakeholders' values for protecting the things that matter most to them. The resulting plan identifies a combination of homeowner programs, drainage system improvements, green infrastructure and planning that will reduce the risk of flooding.

Corrosion and Odour Reduction Strategy

We applied a similar approach to identify the areas of Edmonton where there are significant quality of life impacts due to odour from the sanitary sewer network. With a combination of analysis, engineering and stakeholder engagement, we have developed a plan to address line corrosion and odour concerns through drainage capital and maintenance programs.

Celebrating our City

We're proud to call Edmonton home. There's a lot going on here, including world-renowned innovators, great festivals and one of the community's greatest assets – the North Saskatchewan River. That's why in 2019, we continued to put our name and passion behind such events as EPCOR RiverFest, which connected Edmonton and area residents with their river. EPCOR was also one of SingularityU's presenting sponsors, supporting the event in numerous ways, including hosting a Singularity Youth summit and an After Dark party at the historic Rossdale Power Plant.

Supporting our communities — Always with heart and soul

We support initiatives that impact Edmonton today and make it better for tomorrow. Each year, we contribute more than $1 million and connect our employee volunteers to charitable organizations and initiatives with a focus on setting youth up for success and making our city more welcoming and attractive. Some of our major partners in 2019 included United Way, Big Brothers Big Sisters/Boys and Girls Club of Edmonton, Youth Orchestra of Northern Alberta, Military Family Resource Center, and many more.

Proud to be a Top Employer

In 2019, EPCOR was once again recognized as a top employer, innovator and corporate citizen. Recent recognition includes:

  • Top Employers for Young People

  • Best 50 Corporate Citizens in Canada
