Once construction has started, we anticipate it to take approximately 4 weeks.

What to expect during construction

Hours of Operation

In order to minimize the length of construction, we plan to work seven days a week from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. for approximately four weeks.

Visual

You can expect to see activity that is typical to construction, such as:

  • Construction barricades, fences, and signs
  • Company vehicles and equipment around the work sites
  • Up to three construction site tents
  • Small power generators

Noise

Work on the power cables will create typical noise associated with construction. We will take measures to ensure we comply with the City of Edmonton’s Community Standards Bylaw for Noise Control. Should it be necessary to temporarily exceed acceptable noise levels, we will work with the City of Edmonton to obtain the necessary permits.

Road/Sidewalk Closures

Hermitage Road westbound will be reduced to one lane just east of Henry Ave. A portion of the sidewalk will also be closed on the north side of Hermitage Road, just east of Henry Avenue. Pedestrian access will be available on the south side of Hermitage Road. See map for details on road and sidewalk closure.

Power Supply

EPCOR does not anticipate any power service interruptions from this proposed work. You will continue to receive safe and reliable electricity.

Work Space

All work areas will be safe and secure. All construction activities will be in accordance with City of Edmonton Bylaws, Occupational Health and Safety requirements, as well as EPCOR’s strict health, safety and environmental standards and procedures.
