EPCOR is a Canadian company, providing power and water to communities throughout British Columbia and the U.S. Pacific Northwest.
EPCOR became involved in developing and operating renewable energy in British Columbia in 2000. Today, we generate over 160 megawatts of sustainable electricity from four small-hydro facilities and one of Canada’s largest biomass generating stations. In Washington State, EPCOR operates the 249 megawatt Frederickson Power facility. EPCOR Power L.P. (TSX: EP.UN) owns a 50.15 per cent interest in the facility, with Puget Sound Energy owning the remaining 49.85 per cent.
EPCOR has over 100 years of experience in developing water and wastewater services. Our team of 450 water professionals designs, builds, operates and finances new infrastructure. Our expertise includes highly advanced and automated water treatment systems, ultraviolet (UV) disinfection, and continuous monitoring systems for all sizes of facilities.
In British Columbia, we provide services to Port Hardy, Sooke, White Rock and our French Creek operation on Vancouver Island. EPCOR also operates the Britannia Mine Water Treatment Facility, located on the Sea-to-Sky Highway. The Britannia Mine was once North America’s largest source of heavy metal pollution. Working in partnership with the B.C. government, EPCOR is now capturing and removing hundreds of kilograms heavy metals each day from the mine’s run-off.
