All Building, Electrical, Gas and Plumbing installations must be performed under the proper Permit. In Alberta, The Inspection Group Inc. is authorized to issue permits in all these areas, and perform the necessary inspections required to ensure your work complies with all applicable codes and standards.
Electrical permits may be issued to an electrical contractor who is licensed in the City of Edmonton. You'll find names of electrical contractors in the Yellow Pages. If you are the owner/occupant of a single-family residence and plan to install electrical wiring personally, you may make application for an electrical permit. It is essential you have the knowledge and capability to personally complete the installation. An inspector will review your installation plans with you before a permit is issued.
Please have personal identification with you, showing your current address. Proof of ownership may be required if your home has been purchased within the past six months. Electrical permits are cancelled after ninety days if no inspection has been requested and all installations require at least one visit from an electrical inspector.
