Cross Connection Control

Cross Connection Control is one way EPCOR works with businesses and institutions to protect the public drinking water supply.

A cross connection is a real or potential connection between the drinking water supply and any source of contaminant.

Improper plumbing or cross connections on private property can contaminate the public drinking water supply. If there is an incident which results in contamination of public drinking water, the owner responsible or occupant of the property can be held liable for damages.

The Cross Connection Control Program

This program is one more step that EPCOR takes to ensure a supply of safe drinking water. The program involves education, monitoring, and random inspection to make sure that customers install proper cross connection control devices which meet municipal, provincial and national regulations and guidelines.
