Rossdale Water Treatment Plant
The Rossdale Water Treatment Plant has been in operation in Edmonton since 1903. The current plant was built in 1947 and expanded in 1955.

The plant is located on Rossdale Road in Edmonton, AB.
Rossdale Water Treatment Plant Facts
- The Rossdale water treatment facility is actually two separate plants:
- Plant #1 was constructed in 1947.
- Plant #2 was built in 1956.
- In 2007, Rossdale produced approximately 63,538 million litres of treated water.
- The water treatment process includes coagulation, flocculation, filtration and uses free chlorine, chloramine, and UV light for disinfection.
When combined with E.L. Smith, the two plants:
- have a total capacity of 530 million litres per day (ML/d), under average summer water conditions
- currently serve 965,392 customers where:
- 207,035 residential and multi-family dwellings consumed 48%
- 16,618 commercial and industrial consumed 27%
- 9 wholesale/regional customers consumed 25%
