Joffre Cogeneration Plant

At 480 MW, the Joffre Cogeneration Plant is one of Canada's largest cogeneration facilities. Located in Central Alberta, it operates as a merchant plant delivering power to the Alberta Electric System Operator and power, water and steam to the host NOVA Chemicals petrochemical production site. NOVA produces ethylene from natural gas at the site and uses 500,000 lbs/hour of steam from the cogeneration plant.
