E.L. Smith Water Treatment Upgrade Project
This project will help ensure a secure supply of water for the region in the future and help strengthen EPCOR's ability to meet seasonal challenges such as spring run-off and hot-dry periods.
Summer 2008
- The 3 year upgrade project has been completed. It includes a new river water intake line, new water pump house, treatment process upgrades, new water disinfection systems, general site upgrades, and an extended water transmission main to SE Edmonton.
- EPCOR is a 2008 Alberta Emerald Award winner for environmental leadership for recent upgrades to the E.L. Smith water treatment plant. EPCOR and its partner in the project, Associated Engineering, won in the Large Business category.
