Perspectives on Clean Power

Canadians, and all levels of government, must work together to reduce the environmental impact of electricity generation and maintain Canada’s competitiveness.

EPCOR believes the best plan for Canada must:

  • Reduce all air emissions, including greenhouse gases and smog-related emissions;
  • Recognize that conservation and energy efficiency will fall far short of delivering significant reductions, and that to maximize conservation energy prices need to increase;
  • Invest in breakthrough technologies that would allow Canadians to permanently reduce emissions from baseload electricity generation;
  • Fiscally enroll all Canadians to help close the cost gap to cleaner technologies, harmonize public policy within Canada, and synchronize the pace of change with Canada's major trading partners.
