There are many simple ways you can improve your energy efficiency, reduce your consumption and save money for your business.
Turn it off
Turning off machinery, computers, printers, appliances and photocopiers when your business is closed, or using a low-energy mode during periods of non-use, can reduce the amount of energy your business equipment consumes.
See the difference
Compact fluorescent lights (CFLs) use 60% to 75% less electricity than traditional incandescent bulbs to provide the same light and last 10,000 hours. Changing all your light bulbs and using sensors can significantly reduce your lighting consumption.
Keep it balanced
Turning the heat and air conditioning off when your business space is not in use can save a lot of energy. Programmable thermostats allow you to set the temperature to adjust at certain times of day to minimize your consumption.
Buy wisely
When shopping for equipment for your business, look for the EnerGuide for Industry rating. It provides estimated energy consumption or efficiency of a product and compares it to other similar products.
